FIFA Arab Cup 2025: Algeria A’ held to a draw by Sudan (0–0) in their opening match

The Algerian home-based national team settled for a goalless draw (0–0) against Sudan on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the opening round of Group D at the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, in a match played at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha.

Adel Boulbina and his teammates started the game with strong intent, applying high pressure from the early minutes, but the forwards lacked finishing efficiency and failed to break the Sudanese defense.

The first half ended scoreless, highlighted by the sending off of Adam Ounas in the 45+5 minute after receiving a second yellow card.

Despite being one man down, the Greens tried to keep their attacking rhythm at the start of the second half, before Sudan gradually gained control of the match, though without creating any real danger for the Algerian backline.

With this draw, Algeria collects only one point from its first appearance in the competition and will now need to show a stronger performance in the upcoming matches to boost their qualification hopes.
