USM Alger opened their CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a 3–2 victory this Sunday at the 5 July Stadium against Ivorian side San Pedro. Houssem-Eddine Ghacha put the hosts ahead in the 17th minute, before Adem Alilet doubled the lead at the hour mark. Kamagate pulled one back five minutes later, but USMA restored their two-goal cushion through their captain Saadi Radouani in the 81st minute. In stoppage time, Karamoko scored San Pedro’s second goal, but it was not enough to deny the home side the win. With this success, USM Alger takes the top spot in its group and starts its continental journey in the best possible way.
